Missions and responsabilities

Magnetometers can be used in many applications, including assisted or autonomous navigation. In particular, they can serve as a reference by constantly providing the direction of magnetic North in relation to the moving vehicle. This compensates for the drift of other sensors required for navigation (accelerometers, gyrometers, etc.), thus ensuring a longer reliability of the navigation system. Kwan-tek is currently developing a magnetometer dedicated to this navigation application.

In this context, the aim of the proposed internship is to help define and set up the various experimental tests to be carried out in order to validate the system’s functionality and performance. These tests could include temperature tests, vibration tests or various functionality tests in the laboratory or outdoors. The first two months of the internship will focus on defining the tests to be carried out to ensure full validation of the system. The last four months of the internship will be devoted to implementing these tests, according to the technical advances and problems encountered. The student will be able to draw on the support of various team members to carry out this work. Part of the work will also be carried out in partnership with a laboratory specialized in autonomous navigation.

This mission includes :

  • Anticipate and draw up the list of experimental tests to be carried out on the system for the experimental validation of performance.
  • Participate in setting up test benches
  • Write technical reports
